Fiber Arts As Healing: A community discussion

Thursday, May 3rd 6-8pm  YU 204

Join Social Work students as they lead three concurrent discussion groups on the role of fiber arts in dealing with life transitions.  Led by Social Work faculty Dr. Monica Roth Day and Assistant Director of Residence Life Mickey Fitch, students, faculty, staff, and Twin Ports community members are invited to join in a night of discussion, sharing, and healing.

Welcoming conversation and keynotes will come from Sheldon Withrow, local professional singer and cancer survivor, and Cameron Hubley, mother and artist.  Large groups will then split into small groups based around three topics: 1) birth/death, 2) changes in relationships/partnerships, and 3) illness.  Social work students will facilitate guided conversation and lively sharing of the role of fiber arts in healing with group members.  The teams will reconvene at the end of the night.  Small refreshments will be provided.
