Beth Austin, Senior Lecturer of Media and Distance Learning in the Communicating Arts Department, and Beth Grbavcich, Senior Lecturer of Writing in the Writing and Library Science Department, will present a session at the November 8th D2L Ignite Conference in Madison, WI.

CETL is offering openings for UW-Superior educators to attend this conference. Already signed up are Scott Smith and Kim Rawson, Senior Lecturers in the Communicating Arts Department, and Lisa Mattsson, Associate Outreach Specilist in the Center for Continuing Education. Several others are planning to confirm their attendance soon.

CETL will arrange hotel reservations and transportation, with a CETL van leaving mid-day on Thursday, November 7, from UW-Superior, and returning by 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8th.

Network with UW and other Wisconsin D2L faculty and staff at this full day event of collaboration and discussion on how eLearning is used in Wisconsin to enhance teaching and learning. The day will be comprised of D2L training/consultation sessions, and many opportunities for D2L users to share tips, tricks, strategies and best practices.

During their session entitled "Deconstructing the Discussion Board Dilemma," Beth Austin and Beth Grbavcich will present a variety of ways to use the Discussion Board Tool feature of the Desire2Learn Learning Environment, and proctor a discussion. Session participants will explore best practices and create an innovative interdisciplinary applications list for the tool.

CETL supports all educators from UW-Superior, in limited numbers, to
attend conferences and workshops related to Teaching and Learning issues and best practices.
