DLC Scholarships for Spring 2011

Application Deadlines: March 18 - April 4

Unless indicated otherwise, applications for the scholarships listed below can be found at: http://www.uwsuper.edu/dl/forms/current/index.cfm

1. Dean of Students Scholarships:

  • Applications are due no later than Friday, March 18th, at 4 PM.
  • More than $10,900 in scholarships are available.  Applications may be emailed to Debbie Seguin (dseguin@uwsuper.edu).

2. Communicating Arts Scholarships: 

Scholarship applications are due by Friday, April 1, at 4 p.m. CST in the Communicating Arts Department. If you have any problems regarding the scholarship application form, please contact Scott Smith (ssmith47@uwsuper.edu). Choose one of the following methods for submitting your form:

  • Email the saved application form (with your information) as an attachment to Sherry Chuzles (chuzles@uwsuper.edu).
  • Fax your application to the Comm Arts Department at 715-394-8065.
  • Mail your application to: Sherry Chuzles, UW-Superior, Communicating Arts, HFAC 2100, PO box 2000, Superior WI 54880.

Communicating Arts Majors enrolled through the DLC are eligible for the Dorothy McKay Anderson, Katz Family, and Paul & Lucile Holden Scholarships.  Please check all boxes on the form to indicate which of these you are applying for (You may check all three boxes on the form if you are eligible for them all):

  • Dorothy McKay Anderson Scholarship,  $755. For students in fine arts (art, music, speech) or English, preferably a graduate of a Superior or Duluth high school.
  • Katz Family Scholarship, $1,965. For an upper-division status student of academic excellence and majoring in speech communication.
  • Paul & Lucile Holden Scholarship, $1,955. For students of academic merit majoring in the fine and applied arts or letters and social sciences in fields other than English and history, preferably incoming freshmen.

3. Educational Leadership Department Scholarships:

  • If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, application materials are due and must be received by Christa Overson by 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011 to be considered for these scholarships.
  • Applications may be brought to McCaskill Hall 102 and dropped off in a box, ATTN: Christa Overson. Applicants may also e-mail their forms to Ms. Overson at coverson@uwsuper.edu

4. Distance Learning Center Scholarships:

Applications are due Monday, April 4th, at 4:30 p.m. Please e-mail to dlc@uwsuper.edu.

The DLC will award about $3,000 from the Marcovich, Gus Frye, and Distance Learning Foundation Scholarship funds.

  • Gus Frye Scholarship. Half of this annual scholarship is awarded to a student in the Distance Learning Center and the other half to a student in teacher education.
  • Marcovich Distance Learning Program Scholarship. For students in the Distance Learning Program.
  • Dr. and Mrs. Ross Stagner Scholarship. Given to three students, respectively, an undergraduate senior majoring in psychology, a Distance Learning student with psychology as one component of an individually designed major, and an undergraduate student majoring in English with an interest in poetry.
