It's National Distance Learning Week, and the UW-Superior Distance Learning Center is recognizing seven instructors for their years of service to online learners:

Dr. Melissa Nelsen, Chemistry and Dr. Raychel Reiff, World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures - 10 years

Dr. Olawole Famule, Visual Arts, Dr. Jim Geidner, Health and Human Performance,  Ms. Mimi Rappley-Larson, Social Work, and Mr. Scott Smith, Communicating Arts - 5 years.

The Distance Learning Center is also sponsoring a U.S. Distance Learning Association  webinar on MOOCs (Massively Open Online Courses) at noon Friday in Yellowjacket Union Room 202. This event is open to anyone with an interest in this new online learning method.

Dr. Peter Nordgren, associate dean for distance learning and continuing education, says, "National Distance Learning Week is an opportunity to step back and recognize the special nature of what we accomplish together - students, faculty, and staff engaged in a program leading to personal and professional growth, stronger communities, and a better society for all of us, and doing this in a way that fits the needs of our learners."
