Seminar on Australian fisheries management from 1865-1961

Dr. Anne Lif Lund Jacobsen from University of Aarhus, Demark, will present a talk, “Managing trawling on the south-east continental shelf of Australia, 1865-1961.”

Dr. Anne Lif Lund Jacobsen

Dr. Jacobsen is a guest of the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) located on Barker's Island in Superior. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Denmark's Center for Maritime and Regional Studies and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia. Dr. Jacobsen participated in the global Census of Marine Life and the Danish Galathea 3 Expedition, a national research exhibition circumnavigating the world.

She is a postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Science Studies, University of Aarhus, Denmark, where she studies seismological research in Greenland during the Cold War. Her research focuses on the connection between science, politics and the environment in a historical context. She will be visiting the Lake Superior NERR to learn about the Reserve's research, education, outreach, and stewardship programs.
