Grounds Maintenance

The Grounds crew is comprised of one lead worker and three regular crew. They also employ several student workers during the year. Frank Andrews is supervisor of the Grounds department.

The Grounds department maintains all outdoor areas of the campus which includes lawns, trees, planted areas, athletic fields, streets, sidewalks and parking lots. They mow, weed, fertilize and do litter pickup on more than 31 acres of grassed and landscaped areas in addition to 19 acres of athletic fields.

They are also responsible for snow and ice removal on all campus streets, sidewalks and parking lots. They have more than 12 acres of parking lots and 5 miles of walkways to maintain. Removal is prioritized by streets first, parking lots second, sidewalks next and then connecting walkways. Salt and sand are applied as needed. In addition to the above duties they assist the stores operation in delivery of large and/or heavy items. They move furniture and equipment for room or office relocations. They also do moves and setups for athletic and special events on campus.

If you should have any immediate concerns or observe a dangerous condition on campus please call the main office number, ext. 8120 and they will contact the appropriate staff to remedy the situation.
