Team Leaders are current students who have been selected and trained to give you the best possible introduction to UW-Superior. Although UWS is the kind of place that you have to experience for yourself, these fellow students will assist you in navigating the early days when everything is new and unfamiliar. Throughout the SOAR programs, each Team Leader meets frequently with the group assigned to them to answer questions and serve as a resource for you.
As the First Year Experience Team, we are dedicated to making your transition to UW-Superior as smooth as possible. We are available to offer guidance and answer questions at any time.

Jess Burns
Hello! I'm Jess. I am a junior, and my major is Art Therapy. My minors are Spanish and Theatre. I'm very involved on-campus with cheerleading, Yellowjacket Activities Crew (YAC), Queer and Alliance Student Union (QASU), and Choir. In my free time I like to play guitar and sing with my friends in a band called Suburban Jesus. I am looking forward to the upcoming school year because I have a board position in YAC as the Personnel Coordinator. |

Emily is a Communicating Arts major and loves getting to know people. Her favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls, and she loves spending summer days on the shores of Lake Superior. |

Eric Evans My name is Eric Evans. I am a junior majoring in Digital Cinema and Theatre and minoring in Photography. Last year I was a Resident Assistant in Ostrander, which was a lot of fun. I am from Superior, WI, so if you have any questions about the local area, feel free to ask! I have been in the boy scouts for 10 years, and I am an Eagle Scout. |
Matt Fijalkiewicz
My name is Matthew Fijalkiewicz and I am a junior here at UW-Superior. I am an Elementary Education major with a minor in special education. I am an avid Packer fan and I enjoy any food that's deep fried and greasy. I am a very personable individual and I have not met anybody I haven't gotten along with. |

Hey everybody! I'm a Phys Ed major with a triple minor. It's a lot of work, but I like to have fun too; just ask anybody on campus! I'm originally from Virginia, so I have a pretty thick southern accent! I enjoy hanging out with friends, sports, and watching movies. I'm so glad that I chose UWS! Go Jackets!! |
Kara Schmidt
Kara Schmidt is a recent transfer from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She enjoys organized chaos and mass amounts of caffeine. Kara is the reigning Yellowjacket Superfan and challenges anyone to outshine her UWS Pride. |
Ashley Webster
Hi, my name is Ashley Webster, and I have been at UWS for a year. I had a great time here during my freshman year and am looking forward to another great year. I have been involved in cheerleading here on campus and had a great year working with those ladies. This upcoming year I am looking forward to working with Reslife, as an Alternate RA, and FYE. I am fun-loving and am really easy to get along with. |
