Welcome Students! 

We are excited that you have chosen UW-Superior for your higher education.  We have a number of programs and services to assist you in your transition to campus.  One such program is SOAR.  All freshmen and transfer students coming in with under 20 credits are required to attend SOAR. 

SOAR (Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration) is your introduction to the University of Wisconsin-Superior.  Each SOAR session is 1 1/2 days.  During SOAR you will have a chance to connect with current students, staff and faculty as you learn about UW-Superior and its services.  In addition, you will plan out and register for your fall semester courses.  As a SOAR participant you will not only take part in the scheduled sessions, but you will have the opportunity to stay in the residence halls, and take part in some exciting evening activities as part of your experience.  Even if you plan on commuting during the semester, we highly encourage you to stay with us during SOAR.   

There are 5 SOAR dates for you to choose from.  We encourage you to make your reservation early as slots fill up quickly.  Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. 

 
SOAR Parent and Family Program

Parents and Families we didn't forget about you!  We would love for you to join us for our SOAR Parent and Family Program.  This program runs at the same time as the student SOAR.  If you plan to attend, you will need to complete the SOAR Parent and Family Program Reservation Form (coming soon). 

The SOAR Parent and Family Program will give you the opportunity to learn about the university and its services.  In addition you will get the chance to meet current students, faculty and staff who can help to answer any questions you may have.  It is also a great way to connect with other UW-Superior parents. 

If you are coming from out of town, you may need overnight accomodations.  There are a number of local hotels and motels in both Superior and Duluth to choose from.There is also a limited amount of space available in some of our residence halls if families wish to stay on campus.  These accommodations are separate from where the students will be staying.  Cost for on-campus accommodations is as follows:

$29/night single

$40/night double - 2 single beds (double pricing includes two adults plus up to two children under the age of 12)

Additional Opportunities During SOAR for Parents and Families

We would like to invite you to join us for lunch and dinner during the SOAR Parent and Family Program.  Both meals are optional, but will require an RSVP and pre-payment.

If you wish to join us  the cost for lunch will be $7.40 per person.  Lunch will be in the Union Café which is an all you can eat venue with a variety of options.  During lunch university staff will be available to visit with you and answer questions about UW-Superior. 

In addition, we would like to invite you to Dinner with the Jackets.  This will take place the evening of the first day.  University faculty and staff will join us for dinner.  Dinner will be a catered meal in our new Yellowjacket Union.  The cost for this dinner is $12.00 per person. 

Those planning to attend the lunch and/or dinner will need to pay in advance.  You can pay by credit card by
