Welcome to UW-Superior!

The First Year Experience office offers a number of programs and services designed to assist you in your transition to campus, either as a freshman or a transfer or international student.

We encourage you to participate in as many FYE programs, activities, and courses as possible. These programs are designed to help you succeed both socially and academically here at UWS.

Fee Policy

A non-refundable fee of $125 (for fall 2013 semester) is assessed to each new student on their University billing statement. This fee is applied to all new students regardless of attendance at orientation and other FYE events. 

Orientation and Welcome Programs

It is required for all incoming students with under 21 credits to attend SOAR and WoW, but both are strongly encouraged for all incoming students. Aside from these programs, FYE assists with Family Weekend and other programs throughout the year. There are also a number of courses tailored to freshman students with our First Year Seminars.

Transfer students with more than 21 credits are encouraged to come to WoW, but also have a Transfer Welcome which is tailored specifically to transfer students and deals with frequent questions and concerns dealing with credit transfer, financial aid, and much more.

Semester Programs

FYE Staff put on other programs throughout the year to help students with issues they may be dealing with during the year. Examples of these programs include:

 Transfer Tuesdays

Transfer Tuesdays are a series of events, informational sessions and activities, designed to specifically meet the needs of transfer students. They are typically held over the noon hour and highlight specific areas of campus and university life.

Meet with a panel of students who have returned from their adventures studying abroad and learn about their experiences.

Explore the World Through Teaching

Talk to others who have traveled abroad while teaching. Find out what it takes to become a professional ESL instructor.

Budget. Don't Fudge It!

Trouble managing money? Need some help with budgeting? You'll learn the basics of how to handle a budget, including going over and tracking your spending, how to create a budget for yourself, and ways to save money. You'll also get some hands on experience with keeping a budget through some interactive activities.
