Will you help showcase it at the first "Totally Real Beauty Show" at UWS?

A few students from the Intro to Women/Gender Studies class, Gender Equity, and the Alliance are looking for other studnets to help plan this "Totally Real Beauty Show."   We feel the media's portrayal of beauty is skewed beyond recognition and would like to counter this portrayal with a show about what beauty really means to people in this area.  The event is planned for Tuedsay, November 20, 2012 at 7pm in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room.

How can you be involved?   

• Promotions (for two weeks up to event, promotingon Facebook, handing out flyers, putting up posters, announcing to classes)
• Pictures and stories about beauty for thePowerPoint (must include permission from original author or photographer)
• Setup (starting 5pm the day of the show)
• Show participants: walk the runway, share your story of beauty
• Cleanup (starting after the show)
• COME TO THE SHOW and BRING YOUR FRIENDS!  It won't be much of a show if we don't have anaudience.  Make sure to support the cause and come hang out for an hour.

• Promotional flyers and posters will be availablestarting November 7th in the Gender Equity Center or by appointment with Debbie.
• Photos and stories for the PowerPoint are due November 16th by 10pm.

Note:  Some professors may give you credit for class if you participate as a volunteer.  Don't be afraid to ask.
