Walk a Mile in HER Shoes

When: May 5, 2014 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Each year UW-Superior "steps out" in our best shoes in an effort to raise money for an organization that aims to stop violence against women. This year the event is planned for Monday, May 5, 2014 from 4pm to 6pm. The walk will be from the Marcovich Wellness Center to the Courthouse.

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is one of many of walks/races that is done all around the world. "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is a mile walk where each participant raises funds and then walks a mile in "Her" shoes, meaning, high heels (or women's dress shoes). The walk is not a race, so it can be done at your own pace. There will also be music, vendors, and prizes for the participants who receive the most funds raised! All proceeds will go to local non-profit agency that supports survivors of violence.

Participants must register for the event by May 5, 2014. Registration fees are:

  • $5 Walkers in Heels (Women's Dress Shoes)
  • $10 Walkers not in Heels

What you receive as a participant:

  1. You will be entered into an automatic drawing for great prizes.
  2. You will receive a "I walked a mile in her shoes" button.
  3. Finally, and most importantly, you'll have memories to last a lifetime that benefited survivors of violence!
Volunteers: Dedicated people are needed to volunteer for setting up, working tables, overseeing the event, and tearing down. If this sounds like something you would like to do please email T.K. Vang at tvang14@uwsuper.edu!
Vendors:

Craft vendors or organizations are needed to participate. If you sell crafts or other items/serrvices and would like to have a table at this event, please email T.K. Vang at tvang14@uwsuper.edu. There is no cost for the table...we ask that proceeds go to the non-profit agency. All vendor tables will be set up in the lobby of the Court House.
