English Scholarships

Dorothy McKay Anderson Scholarship. For students in fine arts (art, music, speech) or English letters, preferably a graduate of a Superior or Duluth high school.

Willis B. Hughes Scholarship. For a graduating senior who is accepted for enrollment in a graduate school in the field of history, philosophy, or languages and literature.

Nona MacQuilkin/Norman Christensen Scholarship. For students majoring in English, preferably incoming freshmen.

Dr. and Mrs. Ross Stagner Scholarship. Given to three students, respectively, an undergraduate senior majoring in psychology, a Distance Learning Program student with psychology as one component of an individually designed major, and an undergraduate student majoring in English with an interest in poetry.

William A. Wenninger Humanities Scholarship. For undergraduates who show academic promise in one of the humanities, namely history, literature or philosophy.

Continuing students - Submit completed application to the World Languages, Literatures and Cultures department chair or your advisor. Please be sure to check whether the scholarship requires more information than is asked for on the application.
