Academic Merit, Financial Need, and New Freshman or Transfer Student Scholarships
These scholarships are categorized according to the office to which you send your scholarship application. Scroll down to see all your options.
Financial Aid Office: To qualify for these scholarships, you must have filed a FAFSA. To apply, complete the Scholarship Application and submit a copy to the Financial Aid Office in Old Main, room 110. (Do not specify which scholarship you are seeking. By submitting an application you will be considered for all scholarships.)
Bernice C. Anderson Scholarship. Full tuition to one or more students showing financial need. Incoming freshmen must be in the second quartile of their high school graduation class. Returning students must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
Melinda Boswell Scholarship. For a student in good standing and who has earned at least half the credits required for completion of their degree. Greatest consideration will be given to educational merit, post-graduation goals and financial need, respectively. This scholarship is awarded every other year.
Hans Bredahl Scholarship. For a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 majoring in any area and exhibiting financial need.
Donald and Laura Carroll Scholarship. For full-time undergraduate students who show financial need and serve as student assistants to the program areas in which they are majoring, working no less than ten and no more than twenty hours a week during each semester. Entering students must be in the top third of their high school graduating class. Returning students must have at least a 2.75 GPA to remain eligible.
Agnes Dahl Memorial Scholarship. A scholarship for a financially needy student whose academic credentials place them in the "B" or "C" category.
Enbridge Energy Company Scholarship. For students with financial need. Half of the monies shall be awarded to students in the applied sciences. Students must be residents of the United States or Canada who are entering their second or subsequent year of study.
Paul Meadows Memorial Scholarship. For a student with a 3.0 GPA or higher and in financial need.
Margaret Frets Young Loan Fund. Short-term loan given out through the Financial Aid Office for real need worthy students who have emergencies.

A'viands Scholarship. To recognize an individual or individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their education and exemplary work performance for campus dining services at UW-Superior. Qualifications include: 1) Must be attending UW-Superior as a full-time student; 2) Must be currently employed by A'viands at UW-Superior; 3) Demonstrated commitment to position and education; 4) Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 (high school students must provide a copy of transcript). Recipients of scholarship will be focused on both their educational advancement and their work performance in the UW-Superior dining services. Particular attention will be given to applicants who also hold memberships in campus clubs or organizations, have participated in special dining service functions and/or events (such as catering), or provided volunteer services.
Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship. For students of academic merit.
Carl and Helen Kunz Scholarship. An annual scholarship awarded to a junior who plans to carry out research or a project during his or her senior year that applies directly to the field of reminiscence and life review within their major area of study. The following criteria apply:
1. The research or project is a formal part of the student's major area of study that requires research or a project that will be carried out during the student's senior year.
2. The proposed research or project reflects a clear understanding of the field of reminiscence and life review.
3. The research or project will further the knowledge of how reminiscence and life review is related to the student's major field of study.
4. There is reasonable evidence that the research or project will be able to be carried out successfully during the student's senior year.
5. The student commits to preparing a final report and related poster session that would be appropriate for publication in the news letter of the International Institute for Reminiscence and Life Review and/or as a poster session at their biennial conference (this does not mean that publication or presentation is required).
Lambda Sigma Lambda Scholarship. For an undergraduate female student at UW-Superior in her junior or senior year with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students must be active in campus life and show commitment to enhancing campus life at UW-Superior. Preference will be given to applicants who are legacies of Lambda Sigma Lambda/Sigma Sigma Sigma sororities. The junior receiving the scholarship may also be eligible for this scholarship into their senior year as well.
Optimist Club Scholarship. For students with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above, setting positive examples for youth and commitment to service to youth in their community.
Joe Long Leadership Scholarship. For students who have shown outstanding leadership, who have a minimum GPA of 2.25, and who show financial need.
William and Olga Munnings Scholarship. Awarded annually to four students: 1) An incoming student from Superior Senior High School; 2) A full-time undergraduate junior or senior student majoring in business and economics; 3) A full-time undergraduate junior or senior student majoring in teacher education; 4) A non-traditional student.
Maureen Roin Scholarship. Awarded to a student with academic promise who comes from a socially difficult background and who has financial need. Priority will be given to female students.
Lloyd Williams Memorial Scholarship. Awarded to a current UW-Superior student with a 3.0 or higher GPA. The student must be a full-time student at UW-Superior and live in the residence halls for the entire academic year that the scholarship is dispersed. The student must demonstrate the potential to continue with their college career by remaining in good standing with the University and maintain all scholarship criteria.

Norton E. Croft Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
John O. Danielson Mathematics Scholarship. For students in mathematics, preferably incoming freshmen.
Dimarco Scholarship. For a freshman male student with financial need majoring in health and human performance.
Leland T. Dutton Scholarship. For incoming freshman with financial need and evidence of leadership potential (extra-curricular activities, community involvement, work, etc.). Parent or Grandparent must be UW-Superior alumni, and must have scored 23 or higher on the ACT, or equivalent SAT score.
Caroline Erickson Scholarship. For an incoming freshman who is a graduate of a high school in northwestern Wisconsin, who is in the upper 20 percent of their class, and who has the recommendation of their high school principal.
Eugene and Marian Erickson Scholarship. For a full-time UW-Superior student who is a graduate of the Northwestern School District in Maple, WI.
Stuart J. and Florence S. Erickson Scholarship. Full tuition for students graduating in the top 25 percent of their high school class, or renewal based on achievement and minimum GPA of 2.5. Special consideration given to Native American applicants. Students must be enrolled full time and show financial need.
Clough Gates Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Hermanson Scholarship. For a freshman female who is a resident of rural Douglas County and is ranked in the upper 25th percentile of her high school graduating class.
Jim Dan Hill Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Dorcas McPhail Johnson Scholarship. For freshman students majoring in teacher education and having a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Loren and Holland Hutchinson Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen, majoring in physics.
Diane and Jim Klungness Scholarship. For incoming freshman students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and financial need.
Henry R. W. Knudsen Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Mark and Mary (Milchesky) Kotter Scholarship. For a student from rural Douglas County, WI and a graduate of Superior High School with financial need.
William and Sylvia Lange Memorial Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Flora Marie Loubert Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Nona MacQuilkin/Norman Christensen Scholarship. For students majoring in English, preferably incoming freshmen.
Marcovich Family Scholarship. For an incoming student majoring in legal studies.
Emile Mathis Art Scholarship. For any student or students pursuing a degree in art who demonstrate financial need. Available only to freshmen, incoming sophomore students, and freshmen-year recipients who may apply for the tuition for their sophomore year.
Ronald J. Mathis Art Scholarship. For any student or students pursuing a degree in art who demonstrates financial need. Available only to freshmen, incoming sophomore students, and freshmen-year recipients who may apply for the tuition for their sophomore year.
William and Olga Munnings Scholarship. Awarded annually to four students: 1) An incoming student from Superior Senior High School; 2) A full-time undergraduate junior or senior student majoring in business and economics; 3) A full-time undergraduate junior or senior student majoring in teacher education; 4) A non-traditional student.
Morgan and Elizabeth Murphy Scholarship. For students of academic merit, preferably incoming freshmen.
Sentry Insurance Student Leadership Scholarship. Two scholarships, each to an incoming freshman majoring in business administration, computer science, accounting, finance, or mathematics (actuarial science). This scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA and continues to pursue a degree in one of the above areas of study. The recipients of the award are initially selected base don the following criteria: 1) Credentials that place them in the top 15 percent of their high school graduating class. 2) Involvement in extra curricular activities, community activities, charitable organizations, and other endeavors which indicate significant leadership records and outstanding leadership potential.
Ivy Rose Weaver Scholarship. For incoming freshman students in good academic standing who are majoring in Technical Theatre, and will participate in all 3 campus productions. First preference will be given to students interested in scenic design, technical direction or related background area, and second preference for students interested in lighting or sound.
