For the past 11 years, every month, I have given to the Multicultural Center Fund. With the Multicultural Center Fund, the monies in the past have been used for short term book loans which have helped students of color acquire their textbooks from the bookstore if their financial aid hadn't come in at the beginning of the semester. I believe giving back is important in every part of life and giving to the University is no different. Providing funding for student scholarships is so very important in the development of our students, and working in Financial Aid gives me first-hand knowledge of how that can make a difference in a student's ability to persist. Giving back also allows for the great educational and gathering spaces our campus is so fortunate to have, and that benefits everyone! I also feel that we have an obligation to connect with, and celebrate the achievements of, our alumni through various events and opportunities, and giving helps to support those activities.
Director Financial Aid
I give because U.S. is a land of opportunities but nowadays these opportunities rarely present to people who have no college education. Small donations add up to scholarships that open the doors to higher education.
Department of Business and Economics
John Davis was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at UWS for many years and my colleague and good friend. Both John and his wife Laura were very involved in the welfare and success of the international students at UWS and so the John Bloom Davis Scholarship was designed for a mathematics or computer science student with preference given to international students. My yearly donation to this scholarship is very important to me, both for honoring the memory of John Davis and his contributions to UWS, and for the positive impact that this scholarship has on our UW-Superior students today.
Mathematics and Computer Science Department
...I give to UW-Superior and my family established a scholarship in my father's memory that benefits a student working in radio at KUWS because I want every student who attends this great institution to have the same tremendous, impactful experience and receive the same first-rate education that I did.
