POSITION:

Associate Professor of Education/Director of Teacher Preparation, Department of Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership Department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Wisconsin’s Public Liberal Arts College, invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of Education/Director of Teacher Preparation available in August 2010.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

(in partnership with the department chair and/or the Teacher Preparation Council)

• Provide leadership for program and policy;
• Facilitate implementation of revisions in catalog copy, student handbook, and website;
• Assist with coordination of teacher education class schedules;
• Assist with adjunct faculty hiring, training, and professional development;
• Program evaluation and continuous improvement;
•  Review of student applications;
• Train and assist TED advisors;
• Keep updated on certification of state licensure and endorsements requirement;
• Collaborates with the Admissions and Enrollment Services on student recruitment and enrollment;
• Develop and maintain good working relationships and high visibility for the program with school districts, community partners, university constituencies and DPI;
• Maintain an active research agenda;
• Teaching courses;
• Advising students;
• Serve on university-wide committees.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate in the field of education or related field
• 3 years successful administrative experience
• 3 years teaching experience in K-12 settings
• Evidence of active research

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrating a commitment to cultural diversity and inclusive excellence.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the public liberal arts mission. The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, creative, and engaging.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the highest ethical standards and equitable inclusion of a wide diversity of students.  Candidates that incorporate issues of inclusive excellence and diversity within their curriculum are especially encouraged to apply.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with online learning and teaching
• Post-secondary level teaching experience
• Knowledge of accreditation process

The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to the public liberal arts mission and to quality teaching and learning methods. Willingness and interest in utilizing technology in the classroom strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills. SALARY:

UW-S offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance coverage for domestic partners and their eligible dependents.
