National Youth Sports Program

NYSP Staff and supporters:

The University of Wisconsin – Superior has received word from the National Youth Sports Program office that we will not be receiving funding for the NYSP program this summer.  The National $18 million budget was eliminated for 2006. 

Unfortunately, the youth of the Superior Community will not enjoy the program this summer. This free recreational camp focused on participation and education.  All participants were provided free transportation, food, and positive instruction. Last year, the program served over 200 youth from Superior Schools and averaged 100 daily. If you believe that this was a positive program for our community and our kids, please contact Congressman Dave Obey’s office and make him aware of your support.  The Superior Office phone # is (715) 398-7121.

The National office has assured me that they will do everything in their power to restore our funding for the 2007 summer.
