Winterfest is back!

Winterfest is an annual winter-themed carnival that provides an opportunity for the university to bring the campus and Superior communities together for family friendly activities. Over 2,000 campus and community members have attended in past years.

This year, Winterfest will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 6, in the Marcovich Wellness Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Activities you can expect to find at Winterfest include:

  • Visit with Santa
  • Inflatable Games
  • Cookie Decorating
  • Kid's Crafts
  • Challenge an Athlete
  • Photo booth
  • Storybook Village
  • Entertainment Stage featuring local choirs, dance groups, and international poetry
  • Academic Service Learning presentations on staying healthy over the holidays

This year, UW-Superior is partnering with many community agencies and businesses to sponsor this year's Winterfest. Sponsors include The ChamberSuperior Business Improvement DistrictCalumet Superior LLCNational Bank of Commerce, and Superior Glass Inc.

Everyone coming to Winterfest is encouraged to donate new and gently used children's books for the United Way of Superior-Douglas County's new "Little Blue Bookshelves." The bookshelves are sponsored and mainted by the Junior League of Duluth and Leadership Douglas County. Little Blue Bookshelves are being put up in several locations throughout Superior where families with children are invited to take a book home to keep and share, with a goal of improving children's literacy.

UW-Superior students, staff, and student organizations are encouraged to volunteer to help at Winterfest. Volunteers are needed during the event from 5-8 pm and throughout the day on December 6 to help with set up and decorations. Please contact Student Involvement at 715-394-8444 or involvement@uwsuper.edu if you are interested in volunteering.

Information about the event and all the activities is online.
