Annual Tree Decorating Competition

To reserve a tree, contact Student Involvement by Wednesday, November 21. All trees will be set up around the Marcovich Wellness Center Lobby; groups may begin decorating on Wednesday, November 28.

Winners in each division Student Groups (residence halls, student organizations and athletic teams) and Campus Offices/Departments will be identified at Winterfest.

If your student group or department is interested in decorating a tree, please read the following guidelines carefully. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in disqualification! If you have any questions about rules or how to get involved, please contact Student Involvement.  

• Limited number of trees available!  Trees will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. To reserve a tree, email Student Involvement and include your group's name, contact information of team captain, and judging division. 
  
• Decorating Times.  Groups may begin decorating the trees on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 am (MWC opening time). Decorating must be complete by Tuesday, December 4 at 10:00 pm (MWC closing time). Decorating may only take place during MWC normal hours of operation. 
  
• Sign.  Groups must include a sign that identifies who decorated the tree either free standing or as part of the decorations.

Tree judging will take place on December 5 (day before Winterfest)

Trees will be judged in two divisions:

1. Student Groups (residence halls, student organizations and athletic teams)
2. Campus Offices/Departments

Trees will be judged on:

1. Creativity/Originality
2. Overall Theme of the Tree
3. Time and Effort
4. Event Appropriateness

All decorations must be taken down no later than Noon on Monday, December 10. 

Decoration Rules:

1. No electricity will be provided
2. No open flames
3. Trees must remain in designated spots (will be clearly marked on floor)
4. No aerosol sprays or fragrances
5. No spray-on snow
6. All decorations must stay within a two foot radius of the tree
