IRB approvals are valid for one year minus one day. If the research is to continue past the one year marking point (including analysis of data), it must undergo a yearly review. For instructions on how to submit a project for Continuing Review, please contact the IRB Chair prior to expiration of the IRB approval. If the faculty and/or student do not applied for a continuation review on a particular research project, IRB approval for the research expires and no further research can be conducted (including data analysis).
