New Digital Content Added to Special Collections

The JDH Library's Special Collections has just added new digital content to the Great Lakes Maritime History Project. The four scrapbooks of Alexander McDougall, renowned Twin Ports ship builder, were donated to the archives by the Alan Marshall family in 2011. There are numerous images of the unique 'whaleback' ships. A third book provides images from the workshops of McDougall-Duluth shipbuilding during WW I. The fourth book is accessed as a 'book' and combines text and images documenting McDougall's designs, including his proposed designs for protective Gun Boat placements.

The images and text went live on May 8, 2013. To access the collections, go to the UW Digital Collections website, http://uwdc.library.wisc.edu/collections/WI/GreatLakes, and search 'mcdougall'. You can also search 'superior' as submitter for access to prior submissions.
