Dear Friends:
We are pleased to present to you the University of Wisconsin – Superior Campus Master Plan. As we develop our exterior spaces over the next 20 to 25 years, we will use this plan as a guide. We realize that changes in our exterior development needs will occur as our campus continues to evolve over time. Therefore, we recognize that planning becomes a continuing process that must reflect the changing needs of those using our campus through the years.
We developed this plan with the guidance of our entire campus community. This included students, faculty, staff, residential neighbors, other city residents, representatives from local units, those representing local educational entities and alumni. Our special thanks go out to representatives from the UW System Capital Planning & Budget Office, the State of Wisconsin’s Division of Facilities Development and the consultants hired to help develop the Campus Master Plan – LHB Engineers & Architects. We have a strong plan because of the involvement and commitment of so many people.
First impressions can be vitally important to people using our campus. Our exterior spaces must create a sense of place for campus users, as well as blend with our interior spaces. The wealth of information in the Campus Master Plan will help us continue to improve UW-Superior to the benefit of our students, faculty, staff, and our greater community. As we enhance our exterior spaces, we will better meet our mission of instruction, research and outreach, as well as be a better neighbor to Superior and all of northwestern Wisconsin. The most enjoyable part of planning is, of course, the implementation that can now begin in earnest. We look forward to the continued participation of our constituents, friends and neighbors as well as we move forward in implementing the UW-Superior Campus Master Plan.
Sincerely,
Julius Erlenbach, Chancellor
