Campus community celebrates Japanese new year

Students, staff and community members met in the YU on Jan. 28 to celebrate the new year according to Japanese customs.

Students, staff and community members gathered in the Yellowjacket Union to ring in the new year Japanese style.

Events included Japanese New Year's games, a demonstration on making sushi, calligraphy, a chopstick relay race, and an opportunity to try on kimonos.

Participating groups included UW-Superior's Center for Continuing Education, Office of International Programs and World Student Association along with Duluth Sister Cities International, Superior Sister City Commission and Zen House in Duluth.
