 Winter Commencement 2011

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will hold its 2011 Winter Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Marcovich Wellness Center at 1810 Catlin Avenue on the UW-Superior campus. Directions to campus and the Marcovich Wellness Center.

Student participation: Students eligible to participate in Commencement receive a letter from the Registrar's Office containing information about participating in the ceremony. For information, please contact the Registrar's Office.

Graduating students: Students expecting to graduate at this ceremony should check the list posted on the Registrar's Office website to ensure their name is spelled correctly. and their honors, majors and other information are listed properly. If you spot an error, please contact the Registrar's Office.

Guest speaker: Dr. Justin Patchin, UW-Superior alumnus, associate professor of criminal justice at UW-Eau Claire, and nationally recognized expert on cyberbullying.

Student speaker: Joseph Morcomb, MSE candidate in school counseling.

Attire: Caps and gowns must be worn by all graduates. They can be purchased through 'Jacket Book & Supply in the Yellowjacket Union, 1605 Catlin Avenue.

Parking: Parking is available in university lots. Please observe all posted parking regulations.

Programs: Programs listing the names of graduates are available at the door.

Photographers: A commercial photographer will photograph all graduates as they receive their diploma. Instructions for purchasing these photos are included in the information letter each graduate receives from the Registrar's Office before Commencement.

Family photography: An area on the main floor is set aside for family and friends to take photographs or video of graduates as they are presented their diplomas on stage. After you have taken your photos, please exit the photo area so others may use it. Guests are welcome to photograph graduates in front of the stage after Commencement.

Spring Commencement 2012

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will hold its Spring Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Wessman Arena, 2701 Catlin Avenue, on the UW-Superior campus.

Student participation: Students eligible to participate in Commencement receive a letter from the Registrar's Office in April containing information about participating in the ceremony. For information, please contact the Registrar's Office.

Guest speaker: TBA

Student speaker: TBA

The Ceremony: Because of the large number of graduates and guests attending, Wessman Arena's seating areas and parking lot fill quickly. For their convenience, guests should arrive at least 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. Adjacent seating may not be available for guests who arrive later than 1:40 p.m. Commencement generally lasts two hours.

Attire: Caps and gowns must be worn by all graduates. They can be purchased through 'Jacket Book & Supply in the Yellowjacket Union.

Parking: Parking is available in the university lot at Wessman Arena, on adjoining city streets and in the Superior High School parking lots. Parking areas fill quickly. Please observe all posted parking regulations -- vehicles parked illegally risk being ticketed. 

Seating:

  • Open seating is available in the stadium seating section of the arena.
  • Seating is available on the arena floor. Preference for these seats is given to people who have difficulty climbing stairs and their families. Please ask an usher for assistance.
  • Handicapped seating is available on the arena floor. Please ask an usher for assistance.

Programs: Programs listing the names of graduates are available at the door.

Roses: Roses are sold in the lobby as a service by the UW-Superior Student Ambassadors.

Photographers: A commercial photographer will photograph all graduates as they 1) approach the stage, 2) receive their diploma, and 3) as they pause in front of a backdrop after leaving the stage. Instructions for purchasing these photos are included in the information letter each graduate receives from the Registrar's Office in April.

Family photography: An area on the main floor is set aside for family and friends to take photographs or video of graduates as they are presented their diplomas on stage. After you have taken your photos, please exit the photo area so others may use it. Guests are welcome to photograph graduates in front of the stage after Commencement.
