The University of Wisconsin-Superior honored faculty and staff members May7 for teaching ability, scholarly achievements and service to the campus and the community.
Awards presented at the university's annual Faculty and Staff Recognition Program include:
Teaching and Online Teaching Excellence - Dr. Ethan Christensen, assistant professor of marketing, for demonstrated teaching excellence.
Excellence in Scholarship - Dr. Uwe Leck, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, for scholarly efforts that made a significant contribution to his or her field of study.
Academic Staff Award for Excellence - Jenice Meyer, administrative program manager for the Center for Academic Service-Learning, and Carol Lindberg, administrative program manager for the Environmental Health and Safety Office.
Distinguished Creativity - Bill Morgan, professor of visual arts, and Pope Wright, professor of visual arts.
Academic Service-Learning - Dr. Eleni Pinnow, assistant professor of psychology, and Beth Grbavcich, senior lecturer of writing, for demonstrated teaching excellence by integrating academic service-learning into their courses.
Outstanding Academic Advisor -- Dr. Jerry Hembd, associate professor of economics.
Outstanding Team Award - Staff members of the TRiO programs - McNair Scholars: Susan Holm, Debra Provost and Dr. Marsha Francis; Student Support Services: Reilly O'Halloran, Mary Sorensen, Kim Kelly, Lon Bagley, Heather Kahler, Jess McCullough and Kristin Riesgraf; and Upward Bound: Angie Hugdahl, Dylan Pforr and Mary Houk.
Distinguished Service - Kathy Pettingill, academic department associate for the Department of Business and Economics.
Classified Staff Performance Award - Mike Kapalin, custodian, and Jeff Kahler, budget and policy analyst.
Making Excellence Inclusive - Dr. Terry McGlasson, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership.
Max H. Lavine Award - Dr. Mei Cao, assistant professor of transportation and logistics management, for publishing a paper on a topic relevant to major problem areas in contemporary society.
