UW-Superior Career Services hosting non-profit workshop

UW-Superior Career Services has partnered with the United Way of Greater Duluth and  departments from the College of St. Scholastica and UMD to offer Connect with Campus: Internships, a free workshop to be held on Tues.,June 25, at UW-Superior Yellowjacket Union.  The event will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The workshop is designed to help community non-profit organizations successfully navigate the people, departments, and terminology within higher education institutions as they seek to connect with students interested in internships, service-learning, and volunteer opportunities.

Internships, service-learning, and volunteering benefit both student participants and the community.  College students make a significant contribution to their communities through volunteering and service. UW-Superior academic service learning students just last school year contributed 23,421 hours to the community.  That is a value of $426,262 dollars.

Workshop Details:
UW-Superior Director of Career Services Kathy Pykkonen will introduce Jessie Pondell, director of Student Professional Development for the UW Oshkosh College of Business, who will be the keynote speaker for the workshop.

Representatives from UW-Superior, the College of St. Scholastica, and UMD as well as the United Way, will be on hand to answer questions from organizations, provide feedback, and share best practices. There will also be a student perspectives panel in which students will share their experiences with organizations.
