For many young students, June, July and August are a time to relax and play with friends.

Here at UW-Superior kids of all ages and skill levels can do just that by taking part in one of many Youth Summer camps for kids. From basketball, volleyball and theatre youngsters get a chance to learn and develop new skills from teamwork to individual one on one instruction.

Theatre Camp was again popular as it was filled to capacity.

Cathy Fank was the Theatre Camp coordinator and made sure students got hands on experiences both on-and off-stage, in the multiple theatre spaces, scene shop, costume shop and more.

It was made possible in part through a grant from the Pachel Foundation.

Kay Biga is the president of the Pachel Foundation board of directors and delighted they could partner with the UW-Superior camp. "The Pachel Foundation is pleased to support the Summer Youth Theatre Camp at the University of Wisconsin - Superior this summer. We have been very impressed with the quality of both the music and theatre programs at UWS. Our foundation supports charitable and arts organizations in Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin so this camp is a perfect fit for us."

Jason Young, the development officer at UW-Superior Foundation, Inc. was proud of how the Pachel Foundation could help out the camp. "The UW-Superior Foundation sincerely appreciates the Pachel Foundation's support and partnership. The Summer Youth Theatre Camp is a fun and engaging opportunity for our campus and community."

Upon completion of the Theatre Camp, students participated in a theatrical presentation conceived and created during the camp experience. The program featured a full range of classes and workshops taught by university faculty, local professionals and current UW-Superior theatre students.

Here are just some of the skills that the campers learned:

· Set design

· Improvisation

· Mask making

· Stage fight

· Stage makeup

· Acting
