UW Regents freeze tuition for coming year

The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents at their meeting July 11th and 12th approved a tuition freeze for the upcoming academic school year starting in September.

This plan included a tuition freeze for all students and not just those from Wisconsin. The regents voted to expand the freeze to include out-of-state and graduate students as well. It is the first two-year tuition freeze in the 42 year history of the UW System.

University of Wisconsin-Superior Chancellor Renée Wachter said, "The approval of a comprehensive tuition freeze by the Board of Regents is a strong sign of support to keep college accessible for all students."

The full-time, full academic year tuition and fees cost at UW-Superior will be holding steady for Wisconsin residents at $7,904 for 2013-14.

Chancellor Wachter was in Madison at the Board of Regents meeting and noted that the two newly appointed regents (Mueller and Farrow) were also introduced. Outgoing Regent Bartell thanked all UW faculty and staff for their hard work and persistence in the face of budget cuts and uncertainty. The regents also heard from Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and CEO of GE, who addressed the board and shared his valuable insights on "Leading the Productivity Revolution."
