UW-Superior graduate and current staff member Jordan Appicelli will be this week's guest voice of the UW System's "Knowledge Powers Wisconsin" campaign, taking her turn on the @UWpowersMe Twitter account July 22 to 28.

The Barnum, Minnesota native is looking forward to welcoming followers to UW-Superior and the surrounding community, she said, "I am very excited to be a guest tweeter for UWpowersMe. I have been following it since this past spring and love reading about all of the great things going on across the UW System. I can't wait to showcase more of the great things going on at UW-Superior in addition to what Mickey Fitch and Derek Krivinchuk did earlier this year." Fitch a staff member and Krivinchuck a student-athlete, were recent guest tweeters from UW-Superior.

Here at UW-Superior Appicelli is the student services specialist in the admissions office. She is an active bowler and volleyball player and will be happy to talk about the friendly campus here, "UW-Superior offers exceptional educational opportunities and allows students to enhance their other interests as well. As a graduate from here, and current staff member, I am proud to be able to give back to the university that helped me realize my passions for higher education, prepared me for graduate school and hired me as well. Go Yellowjackets!"

She was a three-sport athlete at Barnum High School, was in the choir and was also a member of the National Honor Society. Appicelli earned her B.S. in Speech Communication from UW-Superior in 2010 and a M.S. degree from St. Cloud State in College Counseling and Student Development in 2012.

The @UWpowersMe Twitter account allows students, faculty, alumni - even chancellors - the opportunity to take control for one week, telling their UW story as only they can. It is a component of the social media arm of "Knowledge Powers Wisconsin," the campaign that highlights how the UW System powers economic growth in Wisconsin, improving the state's competitive edge by leveraging human capital, supporting business and industry and strengthening local communities.
