For the second season in a row, the UW-Superior Rifle Team qualified for the Intercollegiate Rifle Club National Championships in Columbus Georgia, on the home of the United States Army Marksmanship Units at Ft. Benning.

The team qualified for nationals by shooting back in February at North Dakota State in the yearly qualifier match, which is held regionally across the country. From that qualifier tournament the top ten teams in the country are invited to compete at nationals.

In the Smallbore portion of the qualifier the team made up of Ian Stone, Zach Bauer, Emily Olson, and Maria Ammer shot a combined score of 1789 to receive a bid as the 9th place Smallbore team to make the National Championship. The same shooters in Air Rifle combined for a score of 2004 for the complete invite into the Championship.

At the championship over March 14-16 the same shooters combined for a Smallbore total of 1924 bettering their qualifying total and giving them the 6th place smallbore team spot after day one of competition. On the second day in the Air Rifle competition the team shot a new team record of 2036 giving the team also a 6th place Air Rifle rank just 5 points over the UW-Oshkosh Rifle Team who posted a 2031.

First year shooter Maria Ammer led the team with the best individual performance for the team with a 1,036 point aggregate score for a 16th place individual standing out of the more than 50 shooters competing. Ian Stone posted a 1,005, Zach Bauer 990, and Emily Olson 929.

After the two days of competition the UW-Superior Rifle Team finished as the 6th place team in the National Championship with a 3960 after entering the Championship in 8th, putting an end to a successful 2013-14 season.
