At the University of Wisconsin Superior, students, faculty and staff spend countless hours connecting with and assisting various community programs.

The Center for Academic Service-Learning estimates 1,400 UW-Superior students contributed over 23,000 hours to the community just last year alone. One of the many organizations that benefit from that involvement is the United Way of Superior and Douglas County.

At their recent end of the year United Way Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Breakfast and 78th annual meeting the students and staff at UW-Superior were recognized for their contributions to the United Way agency and assistance with their programming. These are just some of the students and faculty members that worked with the United Way this year as volunteers.

The director of the agency is Kathi Madsen, a 1970 graduate of UW-Superior and announced that she will be retiring within the year.

She also announced their end of the year fundraising totals so far in the community-94% of their goal was reached this year, totaling more $345,952.44!
