Twenty faculty and staff members at the University of Wisconsin-Superior were presented with outstanding performance awards and honored for their retirement at an event Monday.
Retirees honored included faculty members Norma Stevlingson, music, Susan Loonsk, visual arts, William Morgan, visual arts, and Gail Archambault, director, Yellowjacket Union.
The honorees included:
Distinguished Service Award: Dr. Maria Cuzzo, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Legal Studies program, Mock Trial.
Teaching/Online Teaching Excellence Award: Dr. Mary Churchill, teacher education program, Educational Leadership Department.
Excellence in Scholarship Award: Dr. Zamira Simkins, assistant professor of economics, Department of Business and Economics.
Academic Staff Excellence Award: Tammy Fanning, associate dean of students, Campus Life.
Academic Staff Excellence Award: Mark MacLean, international admissions coordinatior, Office of International Programs.
Distinguished Creativity Award: Dr. Terrencio "Terry" McGlasson, assistant professor of clinical mental health, Guidance and Counseling Professions, Educational Leadership Department.
Academic Service Learning Award: Dr. Khalil "Haji" Dokhanchi, professor of political science, Social Inquiry Department.
Outstanding Team Award: Strategic Planning Steering Committee: Elizabeth "Liz" Blue, Dr. Jerry Hembd, Dr. Faith Hensrud, Dr. Brett Jones, Amy Missinne.
Classified Staff Performance Awards:
Making Excellence Inclusive Award: Steve Nelson, director of intercollegiate athletics, "You Can Play" campaign.
Max H. Lavine Award: Dr. David Johnson and Dr. Zamira Simkins, paper on the reverse mortgage market published in the Journal of Financial Planning.
