Financial aid assistance for college-bound students

Financial aid experts from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and other institutions will help college-bound students apply for financial aid as part of Wisconsin's College Goal Wisconsin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Superior High School Library, 2600 Catlin Ave.

College Goal Wisconsin is a part of a nationwide effort by financial aid professionals to help prospective college students of all ages fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA for the 2014-15 academic year. The federal government requires the FAFSA from all students seeking financial aid, including loans and grants, to attend and pay for college.

Anyone from any state who is interested in attending any college or university can attend the free College Goal event in Superior to get help filing their FAFSA.

Dependent students should bring a parent along with completed federal income tax returns for 2013 and W-2 statements for themselves and their parents. If a parent isn't available, dependent students should still bring the tax information.

Students who are not dependents should bring their own completed federal income tax returns for 2013 and W-2 statements.

The Wisconsin Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators offers College Goal Wisconsin at locations around the state. For more information about College Goal Wisconsin and a list of the materials needed to complete the FAFSA, visit or call (866) 578-4625.
