Laura Jacobs has been appointed to serve as interim director of the Jim Dan Hill Library effective December 11, 2013. She will replace Deb Nordgren who retires on December 10.

Nordgren has been employed by UW-Superior since 1989, serving initially as assistant professor in Library Science and as technical services librarian. She served as interim library director from 2002 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2009, and as director from 2010 to present. She was chair of the Writing and Library Science department and provided leadership in a variety of governance roles over the past 24 years.

Provost Faith Hensrud is proud of the leadership Nordgren provided to campus, especially during and after the campus flood of 2012. "Deb Nordgren has provided exceptional service to UW-Superior, and I thank her for her dedication to the Library, the Writing and Library Science Department, and the institution."

Laura Jacobs started at UW-Superior in 1998 as information literacy librarian after completing her Masters of Arts in Library Studies from UW-Madison. She has been working with university archives, the area research center collections, and the Lake Superior Maritime Collections since 2000. Laura provided leadership for the most recent HLC Self-Study process and has served the university in numerous governance committees over the past fifteen years.
