UW-Superior's Mock Trial team (Black Squad) continued their winning record at the Midwest Challenge Mock Trial tournament in Joliet, IL the weekend of January 18-29, 2014 by earning 2nd Place. They earned a five win, two loss, one tie record to lead the field. UW-Superior won First Place at the Durst Memorial Mock Trial Invitational in December 2013.

The Midwest Challenge tournament included a nationally competitive field of university Mock Trial teams including Benedictine University, Colorado College, DePaul University, Drake University, Houston Baptist University, Illinois State University, Loras College, Northern Illinois University, Notre Dame University, St. Ambrose University, University of Illinois-Springfield, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and University of St. Francis (the hosting school). UW-Superior was, by far, the best Wisconsin university in the field.

Black Squad members for UW-Superior include Emmanuel Tucker II, Taylor Tengwall, Andrew Hanson, Cody Chaffee, Allison Marble, Yer Vang and Cassandra Foltz Burr.

Emmanuel Tucker II and Cassandra Foltz Burr won Outstanding Witness awards for their witness characterizations and strategic thinking skills.

Cathy Fank of the Theater program also provides coaching assistance. Margaret Johnson provides logistics support to the program.

Both Black and Gold Squads compete this coming weekend at the St. Thomas School of Law Hatting Invitational in Minneapolis and then again the following weekend at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. They are preparing for the Regionals competition at Macalester College in St. Paul the second weekend in February.

Mock Trial members include Emmanuel Tucker II, Taylor Tengwall, Andy Hanson, Cody Chaffee, Allison Marble, Brandon Englblom, Yer Vang, Cassy Burr, Jessica Schubring, Jessa McLeod, Randy Bender, Kyle Johnson, Matthew Munkelwitz, Nicole Stodola, Megan Guptill, and Turner Tomczyk.
