The UW-Superior Mock Trial Team 1129 finished eighth in the St. Paul Opening Round Championship Series tournament held March 25-27 at the Ramsey County Courthouse in St. Paul. 

The competition's top six teams advance to the national tournament in Des Moines, in April. 

The UW-Superior team finished with a record of 5-3 in a tournament of 24 of the top mock trial teams from Midwestern universities. The UW-Superior team met some of the best teams in the tournament and was one of the top-ranked teams going into the third round of competition in this national-level tournament. 

Individually, team member Eric Albertson received an award for Outstanding Attorney.  He  was one of the highest scoring attorneys at this tournament.  Cassy Foltz received an Outstanding Attorney Award and Mark Wick received an Outstanding Witness Award. 

UW-Superior ranked second among the team in number of individual award winners.

This year's Mock Trial team included Eric Albertson, Jeff Anderson, Ludmila Cuibaciuc, Kayannda Davis, Brandt Devich, Cassy Foltz, Jordin Gegare, Alicia Kline, Daniel Mason, Jan O'Malley, Shannen Bowen, Katlyn Shipley, Taylor Tengwall, Josh Weir, Mark Wick, Tianyi Xie and Julie Zweifel. 

The team is coached by Dr. Maria Cuzzo (academic coach) and Tracy Schramm, partner in partner in Reyelts, Bateman & Schramm Law Firm, PLLC (attorney coach).
