Online honors: U.S. News confirms Distance Learnings quality

Thousands of UW-Superior graduates over the past few decades knew it.

Now U.S. News and World Report has let everyone in on a little secret:

UW-Superior Distance Learning offers high-quality, convenient, supportive online degree programs.

Early this year, U.S. News ranked UW-Superior's Distance Learning program ninth in the nation in its 2014 "Best Online Bachelor's Programs" list.

Ranking factors included:

  • support
  • student satisfaction
  • instructor responsiveness
  • reputation among peer institutions
  • how well qualified instructors are prepared to teach online

UW-Superior shares the ninth spot with Arizona State University, Indiana University/Purdue University-Fort Wayne, and the University of Illinois-Chicago campus.

Distance Learning's quality and reputation has been built up over 35 years in distance learning. It's a reputation started in the days when programs were delivered by mail and maintained today, when online learning platforms allow students and professors to discus, debate, comment, and turn in assignments and grades in real time.

Whatever annual ranking UW-Superior earns, Christina Kline, interim director of distance learning, says the main message remains.

"Students say high-quality advising, in-demand majors, flexible schedules, and high standards are what drew them to pursue their online degrees at UW-Superior."

UW-Superior offers six online bachelor's degree programs. It also offers an online master's degree program in sustainable management with several other UW campuses.
