Eleven students to represent UW-Superior at Capitol showcase

SUPERIOR, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Superior students involved in a wide variety of academic subjects will showcase their undergraduate research projects April 17 at the State Capitol in Madison.

"Posters in the Rotunda: A Celebration of Undergraduate Research," brings students and faculty from University of Wisconsin System campuses to the Capitol Rotunda to share their undergraduate research projects with elected officials, government representatives, and the public. The eleven UW-Superior students will present six separate exhibits.

During Posters in the Rotunda, state leaders will have the opportunity to view poster presentations of the research projects, speak with students and faculty members, and learn more about how this experience enriches the educational experience.

UW-Superior students presenting research this year include:
• Megan Minor: Analysis of Performance of Equus ferus caballus After Various Pre-Performance Exercises. Supporting faculty member is Edward Burkett.
• Amber Verhel: Legitimate War Rape? : A Multi-Cultural Analysis of Factors Contributing to the Practice of War Rape. Supporting faculty member is Daniela Mansbach.
• Jeredt Runions: Art: A Revitalization Tool. Supporting faculty member is Pope Wright.
• Jenny Hoffman, Cami Inforzato, Hanna Durfee: Removing the Scarlet Letter: Wisconsin's Expungement Policy. Supporting faculty member is Lynn Goerdt.
• Michael Bodner & Alex Antoine: Globalization and A New Asian Gateway. Supporting faculty member is Richard Stewart.
• Andrew Bettilyon, Derek Krivinchuk, Bryce Harp: Duluth/ Superior Harbor Water Taxi. Supporting faculty member is Randy Gabrys-Alexson and Richard Stewart.

Last year at the event, UW-Superior student Kenneth Chong was selected to speak about his experience at a special presentation with UW System President Kenneth Reilly. Chong, a transportation and logistics management major from Mountain Lakes, N.J., talked about his undergraduate research experience at UW-Superior, what it meant to his field of study, and how it will advance his career.

UW-Superior engages students for lifelong learning and rewarding careers through more than 26 undergraduate and graduate programs offered on campus along with degrees offered through distance learning. The university is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges and plays a central role in the University of Wisconsin System's Growth Agenda for Wisconsin.The event website is here:
