The Yellowjacket Union at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will receive a 2011 Build Wisconsin Award - the fourth award for design or construction quality that the building has received since opening in 2010.  

Build Wisconsin Awards are presented by the Association of General Contractors of Wisconsin. The Yellowjacket Union is receiving the award in the General Contractor-New Construction category.

The project was submitted by Immel Construction of Green Bay, Wis., the general contractor for the project. The award will be presented December 1 in a ceremony at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery in Madison.    

Build Wisconsin projects are evaluated by a panel of construction industry professionals, including architects, engineers, city officials and other building experts who select the top projects to receive the awards. Projects are judged and awarded points based on criteria such as innovation, teamwork, overcoming challenges and client satisfaction.   

The Yellowjacket Union serves as the center of student life on campus, with dining facilities, bookstore, offices for student services, lounge and study areas, and meeting rooms. It is built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification standards for evironmental sustainability.
