Zach Anderson
Majors: Mass Communication - Video Production Track and an Individually Designed Major in Cultural Theory
For his Senior Year Experience, Zach Anderson is producing a "road film" - an idea that came to him after he took a road trip last summer.
"The main character in my video shares my romantic notions of the road, but keeps running into situations that dispel the romance of the road," he said.
Anderson is responsible for writing the script, shooting the videotape, and editing the hours of footage into a finished film. He shot much of his video outdoors. For interior scenes of his tent, he set up a tent inside the production studio in Holden Fine Arts Center.
He laughs when asked how much time he's spent on the project. For his 30-minute video he's spent about 50 hours shooting 19 hours of raw footage. He's spent many more hours writing and editing.
Is it worth it?
"Absolutely," he said without hesitation. "The experience of working with others - it's an incredible collaborative operation here with the actors and crew, working with businesses - that alone is worth it. Then you have the experience of screening your video in front of others at the Student Film and Video Showcase. That's an important part of the process."
