Crane Campaign raises over $1000 for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief

Posted on May 3, 2011
Students and Community for Earthquake/Tsunami Relief, through their outreach on campus and in the Twin Ports community, have raised over $1000 for the Red Cross.

UW-Superior students, staff and faculty, along with second grade students at Northern Lights School, youth at North Bay Community Church, students at Nettleton School, members of TrueNorth Americorps, the YMCA, and many individuals from the community opened their hearts and their hands to Japan in response to the devastating magnitude 9.0 earthquake that struck the northeast part of the country on March 11.  By folding cranes and donating money, the community is sending its best wishes for recovery and rebuilding in that country.

A check for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund was presented to the Red Cross Northland Chapter on Thursday, May 5, under the cranes displayed in the YU Shippar Family Atrium.

Fox 21 News covered the presentation.
