Gilman Scholarship Information Sessions

Gilman Scholarship Information Sessions

Students with a Pell Grant who are.. .

  • applying to or accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by UW Superior,
  • studying abroad for at least 28 days in one country,
  • and, studying on a program that begins between December 15, 2012, and April 15, 2013,

are eligible to apply for the Benjamin Gilman Scholarship for study abroad which can provide up to $5,000 toward expenses.  Approximately one in three applicants receives an award.  

Many past UW-Superior students have received the award to study in such places as Bali, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, Fiji, India, Japan, Poland, and South Korea.

The program encourages study for under-represented students in countries other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  UW-Superior faculty-led programs to Bali and Ghana departing in late December 2012 will qualify if students extend their stay to complete the full 28 days in country.

Apply online at http://www.iie.org/Programs/Gilman-Scholarship-Program/Apply.  The campus application deadline is September 27, 2012.
