Reserving the Multicultural Center Top of Page

I wanted to pass on the following information for those of you who would like to reserve the Multicultural Center (Old Main 232) for your upcoming events. The multicultural center is a great place to hold meetings, receptions, socials, guest lecture, presentations, etc…

Making the reservation Top of Page

The multicultural Center will have its own Outlook calendar. You may view the calendar by:

  • Going into your outlook Calendar
  • Clicking “Public Folders”
  • Then click on “Rooms & Labs”
  • You will then find “Multicultural Center” – click once

You will be able to look for the date(s) and time(s) that you need and if they are available you must do the following:

  • Contact Patser Lynch at Ext 8084
  • Patser will be able to make the reservation for you by placing it on the Multicultural Center calendar
  • Note: You will not be able to make the reservation on the calendar yourself.
  1. It’s easy! There are no forms to fill out. To make a reservation you should contact Patser Lynch at ext. 8084. Have your date and times (include set up and take down time) ready.
  2. Remember that reservations are on a “first come, first serve” basis, so reserve early.
  3. One thing to think about before you make your reservation is this: The Office of Multicultural Affairs staff does not like to close the Center for meetings (that are scheduled for mornings and afternoons during the week) to where students cannot utilize the multi-faceted facility but if you still want to use the Center for your event and want the Center closed off to others, please bring this to my attention – when you make the reservation – so plan can be worked out.

Set-Up Arrangements Top of Page

  1. You will need to be responsible for your own set up arrangements
  2. You may fill our a Facilities Management Work Order if you have a large event where you will need extra chairs and/or tables.
  3. The only equipment that we have in the center is a TV with VHS?DVD player, a P.A. system and there are 4 computers in the computer center.
  4. If you need items such as a overhead projector, a screen, slide projector, etc.. you will need to make arrangements with Computing and Media Services.
  5. If you need to use the P.A. system, you will need to bring your own 9V battery for use of the microphone.
  6. For food arrangement, you will need to contact Aviand’s Dining Service at Ext. 8102. Due to the furniture in the Multicultural Center, we ask that you don’t order any red beverages.

Clean Up Top of Page

  1. You will need to be responsible for the clean up after your event. Please do not wait until the next day to clean due to the fact that others will be using the Center.
  2. Again, if your event is too big you may want to fill out a Facilities Management work order to have them responsible for clean up.
  3. If you take the responsibility of your own clean up… you can request a Multicultural Center Map from one of our staff in the Office of Multicultural Affairs (Old Main 230) and if you have a reception/social, make sure not to leave any cups, plates, etc. on the bookshelves and that you put the furniture back into place.
  4. Our office staff will clean the table tops so you don’t have to worry about that.

After Hours or on Weekends Top of Page

f your event lands at a time after working hours or on the weekend, you will need to contact Campus Security at Ext. 8114 to let you in. After your event and clean up, turn off lights and close the entrance doors (they lock automatically.)
