Alumnus Tony Hernandez presented on the Immigrant Experience

UW-Superior alumnus, CEO of Latino Broadcasting Company, Founder of the Immigrant Archive Project, and May 2013 UW-Superior's Commencement Keynote Speaker Tony Hernandez presented "The Modern Immigrant Experience and the Immigrant Archive Project" on Monday, September 23rd in Erlenbach Lecture Hall in Swenson Hall.

His presentation addressed issues regarding immigration reform and the Dream Act. He also shared several Immigrant Archive Project video interviews with young people who share their personal stories of immigration to the United States. His presentation was geared for college student learning, engagement and experience.

Hernandez was born in Cuba and came to the United States as a child with his parents as political refugees. Today he is the co-founder, president and chief executive officer of the Latino Broadcasting Company. They produce content for radio, TV, and the web.

The Immigrant Archive Project has conducted nearly 1,000 oral interviews with immigrants ranging from 8 years-old to 108. Hernandez did two more while on the UW-Superior campus Monday.
