The Multicultural Center has invited Tomas Gomez Membreño from Honduras to visit campus on Friday, October 19 from noon to 1 p.m. at UW-Superior's Multicultural Center, Old Main 232.
Tomas is on a speaking tour organized by Witness for Peace. He works for the non-profit Indigenous rights organization COPINH (Civic Council of Popular Indigenous Organizations).
Gomez is a member of the Lencan people, an indigenous community in the southwest of Honduras. He will speak on the coup in Honduras, its aftermath, the role of the U.S. played, and the concerns of indigenous peoples.
This event is also made possible thanks to the Social Inquiry Department, Center for
Continuing Education and the Spanish Program.
The event is to be hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
