Daisy-ree Quaker is the winner of the UW-Superior Liberal Arts Essay Scholarship Competition with her essay, "The Empowering Nature of a Liberal Education."
As a first-place finalist, she will be awarded a $500 scholarship from the UW-Superior Foundation, and her essay will be entered in the UW System competition, where three statewide winners will be selected to receive scholarships of $2,000 each. Last year, one of these statewide winners was UW-Superior student Melissa Hepokoski
Quaker is a sophomore with majoring in marketing and in mass communications. She is from Tanzania, East Africa. On campus she works as a resident assistant and as a career resource specialist for Career Services.
Final selection of winning essays at the UW System-level will be determined by a group of judges from the UW System Advisory Group on the Liberal Arts. Statewide winners will be announced later this spring.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs Staff is so proud of Daisy and give her our best wishes for success in the final round of the competition at the UW-System!
