The Office of Multicultural Affairs wants you to meet:

New Student:

Flo Powless

Florence "Flo" Powless

Hometown: Odanah, Wisconsin

Year: Freshman

Major/Minor: Elementary Education

What drew you to UW-Superior?: The great education programs, it's close to home, and it's affordable!

What student organizations/extracurricular activities are you planning to be a part of?: Not quite sure. I still have to open the doors and explore all the organizations.

What are you looking forward to most during this academic year?: Completing classes for both semesters! Making new friends, joining clubs, and learning about everyone and everything.

One fun fact about you: I enjoy attending powwows all over the United States and celebrating my culture.

Returning Student:

Jessica Schubring

Jessica Schubring

Hometown: Wausau, WI

Year: Senior

Major/Minor: Legal Studies (major) and Writing (minor)

What drew you to UW-Superior?: After finding out my first career choice had a 5 to 10 year waiting list, I looked for other things I was interested in. The first thing that came to my mind was my love for the law and my advisor at UWMC recommended the Paralegal program here at UWS. That was the best decision I had ever made!

What student organizations/extracurricular activities are you a part of and/or planning to be a part of?: I am proud to say I am a Mocker! Mock n Roll!

What are you looking forward to most during this upcoming year?: I would have to say I am more looking forward to the great learning experiences in Mock Trial and my classes for this upcoming year. I also am looking forward to graduating next spring.

In one sentence, what is your advice to your peers about succeeding in college?: Stay organized, never give up, and keep a good attitude.

One "Fun Fact" about you?: I am a part of the WPAG (Wisconsin Pyro Arts Guild) and the PGI (Pyrotechnic Guild International).

Would you like to be in the "Student Spotlight"?

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is incredibly excited to announce the "Student Spotlight" program. We will spotlight both new and/or returning UW-Superior students each week throughout the academic year. We will spotlight these students on our office website, Facebook page, and student/staff digests.

UW-Superior students are the reason we are here and we truly want students to be successful. The Student Spotlight will help students to connect to various faculty, staff, students, and programs on this campus and vice-versa. Having these connections will help students become successful.
