What drew you to UW-Superior?: The small class sizes. The one-on-one with the professors and also the nice and friendly people and atmosphere.

Brian Lester

Hometown: Hayward, WI

Year: Junior

Major/Minor: Biology - Plant Science/Anthropology minor

What drew you to UW-Superior?: I came to UWS because it was close to home, which insured that I had a support system to assist in my success.

What student organizations/extracurricular activities are you a part of and/or planning to be a part of?: I look forward to participating in the Leadership and Mentorship Program with the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the committee to improve on the excellence of this program. In addition, I am a McNair Scholar and an AMIS researcher, which are two exceptional programs that provide research opportunities to selected students.

What are you looking forward to most during this upcoming year?: hmmm this is a difficult question... the end of the semester, lol, jk... This year, I looked forward to my classes, which I chose based on a mind, body, soul concept to help me deal with the stresses of classes and my life, which in turn assists me in rising above my disabilities.

In one sentence, what is your advice to your peers about succeeding in college?: GO TO CLASS!!!

What is one "Fun Fact" about you?: Just one? Wow, this is so limiting so I will make an executive decision to give three. 1: I was a karate instructor (sensei) for 10 years in my home town. 2: I used to weigh 305 lbs and have lost 150 lbs. 3: I have found over 100 four leaf clovers, one of which is 2 inches in in diameter, and I carry 20+ with me most of the time and give them out as a token of my appreciation/admiration.

Good luck and hope to see you around!

Would you like to be in the "Student Spotlight"?

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is incredibly excited to announce the "Student Spotlight" program. We will spotlight both new and/or returning UW-Superior students each week throughout the academic year. We will spotlight these students on our office website, Facebook page, and student/staff digests.

UW-Superior students are the reason we are here and we truly want students to be successful. The Student Spotlight will help students to connect to various faculty, staff, students, and programs on this campus and vice-versa. Having these connections will help students become successful.
