Criminal Justice Cohort

New for Fall 2014: A chance to earn Credit for Prior Learning through portfolio is being offered in Fall 2014 for Criminal Justice students with extensive work or military experience in policing.

Who is eligible?

-Criminal Justice students who have extensive work or military experience in policing.
-Students who can fit a 1-credit class into their Fall 2014 schedules
-Students who are confident they can articulate their knowledge in writing
-Students who can work independently and meet deadlines

What does it entail?
-Enrolling in WRIT 298: Prior Learning Portfolio Development, a 1-credit online course in which you prepare a portfolio of your learning to be assessed by the Criminal Justice faculty


-Writing essays in which you explain your knowledge of the subject with feedback and guidance from a Writing Instructor during Fall 2014

-Turning in the portfolio for assessment; if the faculty member judges your essays to meet the expected learning outcomes, course credit is granted.

Which courses?
For Fall 2014, three classes are open to Credit for Prior Learning through portfolio:

Major requirements

CJUS 207: Policing
CJUS 463: Delinquency and Juvenile Justice

Elective

CJUS 212: Criminal Investigation
