The Superior Challenge Ropes Course was built in October 2012 boasting a total of 23 low and high elements. It is located immediately behind Wessman Arena on the UW-Superior campus. The Challenge Course is utilized by many different types of groups from all over the northland. Our outdoor facility at UW-Superior features thirteen high elements and ten low elements as well as a variety of initiatives. If you have a group of adults or students who could benefit from a fun, transformative challenge, then consider contacting us!
The Superior Challenge Ropes Course is designed to assist groups in developing teamwork, trust, communication, problem-solving and camaraderie as well as be a tool for individual growth, self-confidence, self-discovery and gaining a strong sense of self-worth. The challenges are both mental and physical in nature and almost anyone of any physical ability can participate and experience success. We utilize debriefing and group reflection as a central element in any challenge ropes course experience in order to facilitate learning and application of the experience to other aspects of life. Explore this website to discover more about how we can serve you and your group.
Who Can Participate: The challenge course is designed to benefit individuals of all ages and from all facets of life.
PHILOSOPHIES:
"Challenge By Choice" and "Positive Peer Pressure"
Challenge By Choice is exactly that…a challenge that you choose! We operate under the "Challenge By Choice" philosophy which allows all participants to choose how much they care to be challenged in their challenge course experience. All activities will challenge participants both mentally and physically. Everyone has the to right to decide how much is too much. This philosophy enables participants to experience his or her own success within their own goals and aspirations. Most challenge course experiences reveal participants receive the greatest gains through fun, reflection and self-realization when they push themselves beyond what they think they can do.
We also operate under a "Positive Peer Pressure" philosophy in which other participants and facilitators will positively encourage you to stretch yourself outside your comfort levels. We understand that some areas of the Superior Challenge Rope Course can be quite a unique and unfamiliar to most participants. We will never make you do anything on the challenge ropes course you do not wish to do, but we'll encourage you to try something new and push yourself beyond what you think you can do!
