"Anti-Gravity" Belay Classes

Posted on Sep 20, 2013
Attend these free classes in order to belay at the climbing wall.

Belay? What is "belay?" Belaying is the process of securing and safeguarding a rock climber by using a rope and belay device to hold the climber if they fall. The ascending climber and the belayer, or the person holding the rope through a belay device, are a team that is linked together by the rope. Belaying is an important part of the climbing chain of safety and one of the most important skills that any novice climber must master to become a safe climber.

In order for you to belay other climbers at the MWC climbing wall, please come to one, or more, of the free "Anti-Gravity" classes offered throughout the school year during regular climbing wall hours. All you need to do is show up and our friendly staff members can show you what is necessary to qualify you in order to belay others at the climbing wall. We'll provide the equipment.

If you'd like to practice prior to testing out, check out our climbing wall hours and practice as much as you like with any of our staff members. Upon testing and qualifying, you'll be able to belay your friends at the MWC climbing wall!
